Steamed milk pudding is a delicious and light treat that lingers in your memory long after you've tasted it. The other day, I stumbled upon a dessert shop in Chinatown that offered this dessert, which I hadn't had in years. Unfortunately, it wasn't as tasty as I had remembered, so I decided to learn how to make it myself. Guess what? It's surprisingly easy! I can't wait to share the recipe with you.
Below is the picture of my very first attempt at making steamed milk pudding.
Ingredients
- 40g Sugar
- 500ml Whole Milk
- 2 Egg Whites
Directions
Step 1:
Steam 500ml of whole milk for 20 minutes until it reaches 80C/176F.
Step 2:Mix 2 egg whites and 40g of sugar.
Step 3:Take the milk out of the steamer and let it cool down to around 40C/104F.
Step 4:You will notice a layer of milk skin has formed on top of the milk. Gently lift the milk skin and gradually pour the milk into the sugar and egg whites mixture until only a little bit of milk and the skin are left.
Step 5:Stir the mixture and pour it back into the bowl.
Step 6:Steam the milk mixture for another 20 minutes.
Step 7:Chill the mixture in the fridge before serving.
Trust me, this recipe is a breeze! You can pair it with any kind of fruit slices on top - personally, I love it with mango. Once you try it, you'll be blown away by how delicious it is. So why not give it a shot? Let your taste buds be the judge and prepare to be amazed!
